What is leg vein treatment?
As we age, some of us experience that blood vessels in the legs become larger, darker and more visible. Small vessels (most accurately referred to as leg telangiectasias) are often treated by laser. Here at Fusion MedSpa we use a specific type of laser (an Nd:YAG laser) to treat these smaller vessels.
How does it work?
Our leg vein treatment heats up the vessels using a carefully controlled pulse of laser energy, precisely calculated and directed to the vessel being treated. It causes the blood inside the vessel to heat up (while not affecting the surrounding skin) and this causes the wall of the vessel to collapse, destroying the vessel. The destroyed vessel is reabsorbed naturally by your white blood cells.
Does it hurt?
Perception of pain varies greatly from one person to another. Ellipse leg vein treatment uses the latest in cooling techniques - SoftCool™ – to minimize pain and protect the surrounding skin from painful overheating. Most people find that at worst the treatment is only mildly uncomfortable but that the results are worth it.
What can I expect after treatment?
This depends on the size of the vessel being treated; sometimes the vessel can visibly disappear immediately after treatment, sometimes it appears to fade away more gradually over the next few weeks. Normally, patients experience a little redness and/or swelling in the treated area. This typically lasts for up to 2 days.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the size and number of vessels to be treated, and on your personal treatment goals. 1-4 treatments are typically needed, but a more accurate assessment can be made during a complimentary consultation with Dr. Pliego.
How much does it cost?
$300 per hour or $75 per 15 minute increment.
